Learning About Ketosis

I first learned about Ketosis, when I was at lunch with a colleague. I offered some food and he said, “I can’t eat that because I’m trying to get into ketosis.”

Ketosis…. This was the first I had ever heard of the word ketosis; my first question ‘what is it?’, second, ‘how do you get into ketosis?’

He explained to me the diet is a combination of the paleo diet and the Atkins diet, yes the one celebrities choose to promote.

Being the person I am, I research everything, including the origination, which the diet was a tool for treating neurological diseases.

When I heard the term neurologic, it resonated with me. I’ve been diagnosed with four concussions the latter more serious, basically, a lot of head trauma.

Read the 8 Health Benefits of The Ketogenic Diet for a list of benefits that have been shown through studies with the keto diet. The second to last one stood out to me especially.

I was hooked! This diet could help me overcome lingering head trauma I have been experiencing. Look, I am only 23, so I want to be proactive and not have long term effects.

The more I learned is how powerful of a diet this is. It’s very natural for the body. And let’s be honest,  what diet tells you to eat healthier fats and less protein!? It was very counterintuitive at first. All the diets I’ve seen in pop culture society tell me to consume more protein for lean muscle and weight loss.

The big question… WHAT IS A KETOGENIC DIET?
The ketogenic diet is a very low-carb, high-fat diet. By drastically reducing your carbohydrate intake and replacing it with fat your body eases into the metabolic state of ketosis.

Your body then becomes extremely efficient at bringing fat for energy. Meanwhile, your body turns the fat into ketones and supplies the liver, which supplies energy to the brain.

Why do people stop most weight loss diet? Because there is no energy being supplied to the brain! People get tired, burned out and they haven’t even completed day 7!

This diet is so impressive, and so easy it’s amazing it took this long for it to become an up and coming popular diet!

I am going to end here today. If you want to learn more about the ketogenic diet, download this FREE Keto Starter Guide.
